Baby and Me Postpartum Yoga in Scarborough, Maine
At Root To Rise Physical Therapy & Pelvic Health in Scarborough, Maine, Baby & Me Yoga is all about one thing - connection.
Connection back into your body.
Connection with your breath.
Connection with your baby.
And connection with your community.
This class is designed specifically for new parents navigating the early postpartum months — a time that is both beautiful and tender, exhausting and full of change. Whether you’re craving gentle movement, emotional grounding, or a moment to simply breathe with your baby, this class was made for you.
Connection Back Into Your Body
Our Baby & Me Yoga sequences are created with care and intention for this unique stage of recovery. Led by a pelvic floor physical therapist, the class offers gentle, safe movement and breathwork to support your body as it regains strength and balance.
We’ll stretch and lengthen muscles that often become tight from pregnancy and the physical demands of new baby care — like holding, carrying, and feeding your little one.
Through specific cueing, you’ll learn how to engage your deep core and pelvic floor muscles safely, helping you return to movement and daily tasks like lifting your baby out of the crib or car seat — with confidence and support.
Connection With Your Breath
In the early days of parenthood, even remembering to breathe can feel like a challenge. This intentional yoga practice invites you to slow down and reconnect with your breath — a simple yet powerful tool for reducing anxiety, restoring energy, and cultivating calm.
Taking these moments of self-care isn’t indulgent, it’s essential. Each mindful inhale and exhale helps regulate your nervous system and replenish your reserves, reminding you that caring for yourself is caring for your baby.
Connection Between You and Your Baby
One of the most special parts of Baby & Me Yoga is that you and your baby move together. Each class offers opportunities for playful bonding (smiling, singing, and gentle touch) while flowing through poses designed to include your baby.
This time together is a chance to be fully present without the distractions of home life. It’s about breathing, playing, and connecting with just you and your baby.
Connection With Community
Early parenthood can feel both beautiful and isolating. Baby & Me Yoga is a chance to be surrounded by other new parents in your community who truly understand what you’re going through.
Here in Scarborough, Maine we’ve seen countless friendships form in our studio as parents share laughter, stories, and support during this transformative season. It’s a safe, judgment-free space to move, breathe, and belong.
Always on “Baby Time”
At Root To Rise, we want you to know that you and your baby are welcome just as you are. If you’re running late, no problem. If your baby needs to be fed, changed, bounced, or comforted mid-class, that’s completely okay.
Our classes move at the rhythm of real life - flexible, patient, and full of grace. After class, feel free to linger in the studio, enjoy some tea, and connect with other parents.
Tips for Keeping Your Baby Engaged
Keep your baby close so they can see you - newborns see best within 15–18 inches.
Bring a favorite blanket or toy for comfort and play.
Make eye contact, smile, and talk with your baby during poses.
Add touch and gentle massage to keep them feeling calm and loved.
Sway, bounce, or rock your baby as needed - most poses can be modified to include them.
These small moments of connection are what make Baby & Me Yoga such a joyful experience for both parent and baby.
